My Philosophy On Life: Can I get back to you on this one? OK, well, here goes ... life seems to be a designed by higher powers as a learning experience for each one of us. If we pay attention, we recognize that the bumps in the road of life point to lessons we need to learn, or unconsciousness that we need to bring to consciousness. The big lesson is learning the power of intention: the power to create life consciously. The other biggie is learning to become conscious in the first place. The whole challenge of this life is to make the unconscious conscious, and learn to create our lives. Otherwise, what remains unconscious will direct our lives and we will call it fate (to paraphrase Carl Jung). I guess I'm not providing an original contribution to field of philosophy am I? Well, how about this: eat desert first. Damn! That's taken, too. Besides, I've never lived that way, even though I probably should. OK ... live life as if it's the only thing, even if you know that the soul lives on, and treat everybody you meat as if they are part of your own family (assuming that you love your own family!).
My Interests: Any exercise that isn't overtly life-threatening: skiing, inline skating, weight-lifting, hiking, biking, surfing, rock climbing, traveling (love the tropics and Latin America), dancing, playing music (even though I haven't since high school), acting (even though I haven't acted in many years)
My Inspirations: William McDonough
Music I Love: Lenny Kravitz, U2, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and lots more ... R&B, motown, classical, all kinds of stuff as long as it's inspired and inspiring, but especially anything intense or funky, or both.
Movies I Love: Let's see ... Ground Hog Day.
TV Shows I Love: Don't watch TV, but I was addicted to Alias for awhile in 2002. I guess I just thought Jennifer Garner was adorable.
Books I Love: The Holographic Universe was an amazing read.
Places I Love: Costa Rica, the Bahamas, southern Chile, the Pacific Northwest, coral reefs, rain forests, rivers, lakes, oceans, mountains, valleys ... do I have to chose?
Quotes I Love: "Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." (Harold Thurman Whitman) This has been tough advice for me to follow, and I'm still wrestling with it. There was another great quote I heard recently that went something like this: "Use your talents. Few of us can be the best at anything." Something like that ... in other words, just start doing what you good at and love doing, and don't wait until you are better at it, or the best at it. At least that's how I read it.
