I gave up wheat once for six years and it was easy peasy. Cows milk products were even easier - I would never eat anything from the cow anyway.

Potatoes and tomatoes however, well that's DIFFERENT! That's a NIGHTMARE!

I have always been a potato girl since I can ever remember - they go in everything I make.

Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since I last had a potato and life is difficult......:(

I don't have a single potato in the house! In th supermarket this morning, when passing the potatoes, I jsut looked th other way.

I think it is slowly paying off however. For instance, I have changed enormously! I have become kinder, nicer, even more intelligent that I was before!!

There are bound to be side-effects of course, like my ego has got fatter. All Leos have fat egos, but not as fat as mine. I boast an awful lot more than before......little things like that...

I another 2 weeks, who knows what will happen to me? What will I be like? What about Chistmas Day?

It's a strange world without potatoes.....

I promise to keep away for the Forum for a bit :)

:) From one Leo to another....can I ask why you want to give up potatoes, Ann?? I go for days & days without eating them - not intentionally, I just don't eat them - and it gives me no probs! And...tomatoes?? You must have a reason for doing this? Very interested to know!

Potatoes and tomatoes are peart of the Nightshade family, sometimes called Deadly Nightshades.

I would also watch out for Capsicum and eggplant, also the same family.
Ann, Have you tried Sweet Potatoe, they are not nightshades.

Oh Helen - how nice of you to be interested to know why! I didn't think anyone would be!

Well, I have regularly been having kinesiology treatments since about the age of 22, and over the years, potatoes and tomatoes have tested sensitive. Oh - but I couldn't go for very long without them. Tomatoes on their own are easy to do without - but they are hidden in foods in all sorts of ways.

This time however, I know I have to be more serious about potatoes and tomatoes, particularly as I know my body must be saturated with potatoes. In kinesiology more recently, potatoes are affecting virtually all my organs and weakening my system.

Just need a bit of a break from them I think. Will let you know if there is an extraordinary outcome!!

Ann :)

Hi there Jon!

Good to see you just now on site :)

Well, do you know? I LOVE aubergine too, so realise there must be some connection. I will keep an eye on it!

Sweet potato? Yes, will get hold of some. Need to do something quick as I have fresh mackerel for tonight's dinner and I'm fed up with rice, believe me haha!

Rice noodles don't go either so.... will think of something.

Take care
Ann :)

Ann, a good Kinesiologist should be able to help you get rid of your allergy.

Well Helen - that's SOME article!!

Who would have thought that sneaky little potato could cause so much havoc in our lives! This is very interesting and something to show my patients also.

I am getting quite excited now about my potato-free life ahead. Thank you for alerting me to this - it means a lot.

So, thanks for the little lift back, this writing as it has become quite an interesting piece in more ways than one..

I have thought about it yes and giving up Potatoes would be a a big task for me..Although strangely I find myself with no Potatoes in the house today.
That is unusual for this house hold.

I have not noticed any alergies as such when I eat potatoes. But I do feel they lay heavy in the gut. I find that if and when I need a grounding, the good ole patatoe will do the trick.. A bit of corned beef hash and all, yummyl..
I think on.

Not sure yet if giving up Potatoes is acheivable in this my life time..
It is something to consider though. I am eating a lot of seasoned Aubergine and Corjettes mixed with saute potatoes, onion and garlic recently and I, so enjoy that

It is a funny thought - doing without the 'ole Tater' my Grandad used to call them..

This thread has brought back many memmories back of being on his alloment talking about the variation in vegetables.. Thankyou:)

W'holistic! I have only just come across your two posts. For some reason I was not aware you had written. I was just looking up Helen's link on potato allergies for someone - that's how I discovered them.

Sorry!

Ann :)

I just wanted to thank you Helen for that link on potatoes, which has been enormously helpful.

Usually in treating eczema, the common foods I link with it did not include potato. One particular person's child's eczema cleared after eliminating potato, and also their behaviour changed!

The pictures of skin conditions on this link are quite gruesome, but it may be helpful for those suffering eczema, if the usual culprits have failed.

I'm sure this now has nothing to do with humour!!
