Hi everyone

I have been aware in my profession for some time now of the growing requirement for online therapy. In my research before deciding to offer an online service for counselling and psychotherapy I stumbled across a great USA based site that offers the client a great deal of information and things to consider before embarking on e-therapy.

This is the site http://www.metanoia.org/imhs/index.html and I believe it came from a lot of dedicated research by one person and whilst it was offline for a while I see it now links to a more major site - so God Bless Martha Ainsworth and her continued work in this area.

I hope any of you in the psychotherapy/counselling type profession will have a good read and find it useful.

Thanks Carolyn

I have been counselling on Line for 10 years and things have changed a lot since ten years ago - I shall browse over this website.

Kind regards Gaynor AKA W*HolisticUK

you should not seek advice or counsel from an Internet therapist. If you have a therapist, and you have any issues and concerns, you need to talk about them to your current therapist. Don't ask another psychotherapist to second-guess your current treatment, and by all means don't stop face-to-face therapy in favor of interacting over the Internet. This is to protect you. In almost all cases such a move would not be helpful to your healing process. Any therapist worth his or her ethical salt will tell you the same.

I have come across this many times ( people wanting to consult me when they already have a Therapist)
Its is one of the first questions that I ask any prospective consultee.....E counselling or face to face!

Do you already have a counsellor?

It is under no uncertain terms detrimental to a consultees 'Mental Health' to have more than one counsellor and it is not ethical in any way to contine to counsel any one that you work with that already has a counsellor...

Thanks for the link!

Kind regards Gaynor AKA W*HolisticUK
