There was a new book circle launched not so long ago called Transformational Book Circle, where each month you sign-up and receive books that well known self-help/tranformational authors have credited as having a transformational affect on their lives.

You can read more about it at http://www.transformationalbookcircle.com/

Anyway, it got me thinking about the books that have transformed my life. There are probably dozens of them, but I'll list what are probably five of the main ones, and then I'd love to know what everyone else's are.

1) The Celestine Prophesy by James Redfield.

I started re-reading this again quite recently and I must admit it didn't seem anywhere near as good as I remembered it. However this book will always have a special place in my heart because it's the book that got me interested in spirituality. I was only 19 when I first read it and it definitely had a profound impact on my life.

2) Infinite Self by Stuart Wilde

Stuart has always been one of my favourite spiritual teachers. I love his directness, and no BS approach to spirituality and of course his humour. Stuart doesn't appeal to everyone, particularly those with fragile egos, but if you've never read him I definitely recommend getting hold of this book.

3) Quantum Healing by Deepak Chopra

This is another book I first read many years ago, and probably did more to change my view on the mind/body connection. If you have any doubts as to whether our thoughts can affect our health then they will surely be dispelled after reading this book.

4) The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight by Thom Hartmann

This is not an easy book to read, in fact it's quite traumatic in places. In a lot of gory detail it shows us just what a mess we've created for ourselves on this planet. However it's not all doom an gloom. The last section of the book provides many practical solutions on what we can do to change the situation.

5) A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

For my last choice I was torn between this and The Power of Now, both are incredible books. Eckhart seems to have an uncanny ability to expand your consciousness with his words. His latest book is all about understanding ego and finding your true Self.

So these are my five choices, what are yours?

1) Ultimate Journey by Robert A. Monroe

Quite simply one of the greatest books ever written on spiritual matters. Here Bob, with years of out-of-body travel experience under his belt, literally goes as far as he is able down the 'interstate of consciousness', all the way back to the beginning of time and space in order to discover some amazing truths about life, god, and our greater purpose.

2) The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

Written by a shamanic teacher and healer, this book greatly helps expose our self-limiting beliefs and presents a simple yet effective code of personal conduct learned from the author's Toltec ancestors. The four agreements are these: Be impeccable with your word. Don't take anything personally. Don't make assumptions. Always do your best. Reading the book provides details about how and why we should do these things.

3) Our Solarian Legacy by Paul Von Ward

Draws together various teachings, philosophies, and theories from prehistory, esoteric schools, conciousness research, and frontier science in order to create an integral worldview in which humans are seen as multidimensional beings in a self-learning universe, with an amazing potential for being galactic leaders in conscious cocreation.

4) I Am Me I Am Free by David Icke

One of David's earlier books, that focuses less on the conspiracy research for which he has now become well known, and more upon providing guidelines that can help us to break free of any limiting mental and emotional prisons we may have in order to find true inner peace and liberation.

5) God's Gladiators by Stuart Wilde

A book I read almost immediately after Andy introduced me to Stuart Wilde, one of his favorite authors. This is a brilliant read, containing some wonderfully related stories featuring nuggets of useful practical information, as well as Stuart's own warmth of character and sense of humor.

Hello! I would add the following as being my choices:

1) Seth Speaks by Jane Roberts
My first glimpse at wider world of Spirit.Opened my eyes to many of the current beliefs I now hold dear.

2) Ask and It Is Given by Abraham/Esther Hicks
Guidelines for realizing and utilizing the power of creation.

3) The Nature of Personal Reality by Jane Roberts
Another Seth book. Just deep stuff, all of it!

4) Conversations with God-- All Three by Neale Donald Walsh
Simple words, deep concepts. Makes understanding things easy.

Gosh, mine are all different.

1) Think and Grow Rich by Napolion Hill
This was the first book I read that suggested that thoughts were things and that one could use the energy of one's thoughts to change one's reality.

2) Illusions by Richard Bach
I never knew what to make of this book as a good Roman Catholic kid, but it always struck me as saying something very true about our power and what we are here to achieve in the world.

3) Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind by Shunryu Suzuki
I first read this in college and have been carrying it around ever since. Suzuki talks about the practice of sitting zen, but really everything he says can be applied to anything else you want to use as a practice: writing, dancing, praying, painting, engineering...

4) The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff
Read the Tao te Ching by Lao Tzu. Then read this book. It'll make a whole lot more sense.

5) Oh my, so many: The Psalms of the Bible, any poetry by Rumi, and really any book that appears when you need it--even iMacs for Dummies--can be a transformational book, if you are aware and grateful for its appearance.

Well, I'll add:

1. The Oversoul Seven Trilogy by Jane Roberts. This isn't Seth speaking, its a wonderful character (Oversoul Seven) learning about the framework of existence from his, more advanced, teacher. As Oversoul Seven learns and interacts with some of the incarnated souls in his 'care', the books explore everything from free will, time/space, reincarnation and heaps more. Its a great read.

2. Dynamics for living by Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity School of Christianity. This book encapsulates the understanding gained by Fillmore, who, with his wife, spent many years discerning the Truth in Christianity and proving it. Set out in a logical sequence, are many clear insights into the fabric of our universe and how to connect with its Creator in a way that can be demonstrated daily in our lives. I found it hugely inspiring, full of useful, necessary information and still use the 'treatments' at the back as affirmations to get my mind back in the flow of Universal Mind.

3. Absolute Happiness by Michael Domeyko Rowland. This is an excellent source for understanding and techniques to free oneself from conditioning and awaken one's potential. Rowland writes with clarity and detail and introduces exercises that can help a person access their True Self and move towards their true potential.

4. Infinite Self, 33 steps by Stuart Wilde. What can I say, except all of Wilde's books have had a profound and transformation effect on me. Partly from his ability to stretch one's mind beyond their comfort zones - and partly from practising some of the exercises he recommends. (I know this has been mentioned already, but I couldn't write in this list without mentioning Stuie Wilde.

5. You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. This was the first self-help book I ever read. I had just started out on my spiritual journey - had left my job, husband, my friends had deserted me for lack of understanding and I had no idea who I was, why I was here and what to do next. This book came into my hands, and helped pull me out of a despairing place. I can remember painting the walls of a bed-sit room affirming over and over: I am loving and lovable! The key to this book for me was that it showed me I had power over my mind, not the other way around - and that empowering choices could change my life. They did too, and in many ways!

Hi everyone,

My favourite books lately have been:

'Autobiography of a Yogi'. I know this has been around for a while but I only got to read it just before Xmas last year and it had me amazed. I then searched for someone to teach me Kriya yoga (yoga of the breath). I was instantly transported to the Himalayas to sit with Babaji. What a wonderful experience that was!!!

'Soul Psychology' by Joshua David Stone. Some of his books have been a bit hard going, but I loved this one. It's about how our lives change when we include Soul in the way we live. His books are amazing tools for the ascension process.

'How to be Inspired' by Nick Williams. Amazing!

'The Work We Were Born To Do' by Nick Williams. Shows how to discover your purpose and reveals how to make money following your heart's desire. Nick has been an amazing inspiration to me over the last few years. If you ever get a chance to do any of his workshops, go for it!

'Colourworks' by Philippa Merivale, also author of Colour Power. This is a book about a system of healing based on colour and light, rooted in the ancient wisdom traditions of Europe, Asia and Africa in dialogue form with the creator of Colourworks, Melissie Jolly from South Africa. For anyone interested in Colour healing this is a wonderful book.

I also love the 'Abraham-Hicks' books on manifestation. 'Ask and it is given' really rocked my boat. A wonderful book....

I moved recently and haven't read anything for a couple of months, been busy decorating. Any suggestions for the latest out there? I am particularly interested in ascension and manifestation books.

Namaste

Sue

Namaste all,

If I may I would like to suggest the following books:

I Am That by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
This book is a series of one to one conversations with this teacher of Advaita Vedanta. He swiftly cuts through so much of the problems of the mind and gets right to the heart of the matter, guiding the seeker towards their own Self

Play of Consciousness by Swami Muktananda
Much of this book is his autobiography, telling of his own spiritual practices and experiences over the years. It gives detailed accounts of what he experienced in meditation and his experience of other lokas (planes). It is a real eye opener to the wonders of meditation and what is potentially open to all of us.

Hafiz Poetry
I'm a big fan of the poetry of Hafiz, a Persian mystic and poet who was born around 1310. There are many translations available, but I would recommend the Daniel Ladinsky translations. Other translations may be more technically accurate, but I feel he captures the heart and soul of the poetry more. If I may, I'd like to share a couple to give you taste:

WHAT SHOULD WE DO ABOUT THAT MOON?

A wine bottle fell from a wagon and
broke open in a field.

That night one hundred beetles and all their cousins
Gathered

and did some serious binge drinking.

They even found some seed husks nearby
and began to play them like drums and whirl.
This made God very happy.

Then the "night candle" rose into the sky
and one drunk creature, laying down his instrument,
said to his friend ~ for no apparent
Reason,

"What should we do about that moon?"

Seems to Hafiz
Most everyone has laid aside the music

Tackling such profoundly useless
Questions.

THE GREAT SECRET

God was full of Wine last night,
So full of Wine

That He let a great secret slip.

He said:

There is no man on this earth
Who needs a pardon from Me -

For there is really no such thing,
No such thing
As Sin!

The Beloved has gone completely Wild -
He has poured Himself into me!

I am Blissful and Drunk and Overflowing.

Dear world,
Draw life from my Sweet Body.

Dear wayfaring souls,
Come drink your fill of liquid rubies,
For God has made my heart
An Eternal Fountain!

Hope you enjoyed!

Om Shanti
Neil

Wow what a great selection of reading ... so much to read!

Ask and Its Given and Think and Grow Rich resonate with me right now as I am head over heels with The Secret and What The Bleep.

Tomorrow am hearing Thomas Green tallking about quantum mechanics, metaphysics and everything in between. He is setting up The Foundation for the Universal Raising of Consciousness.

There are so many more and it's great to see so many listed here as resources.

Hi,

I'd like to add the inspired books The Immortal Books I and II, The Lost Key of The Buddha, and Eternal Words all by JJ Dewey, "transformational" is how I would inadequately summarise them.

You can download The Immortal for free at www.freeread.com and purchase the other books from there. Also there are over 3000 free articles by the author on just about anything Spiritual/New Age you can imagine.
