I'm not sure if FreeCycling has been mentioned here before on this forum but for those of you who have not experienced the delights of freecycling join your local group.www.freecycle.org It's a great way to recycle unwanted items and advertise for things you need.

I moved house last week and wanted some pot plants to brighten the place up.Within half an hour of posting a wanted email I was contacted by someone who had some plants that they didn't want and said I could pick them up that evening. It's such a great community of people and you can donate /give anything from small household items to the larger items such as washing machines and bikes. It's a great way to reuse and recycle stuff which may otherwise end up in land fill.

Namaste Katie,

Thanks for posting that. It is a really good resource and hopefully it will grow more and more, I really like the spirit and ethos of it.

I'm a member of the Aberdeen Freecycling yahoo group, in which people email want they are offering and what they are seeking. The range of items is quite amazing, from small items like DVDs up to large items like furniture. With so much waste and such high consumer prices here in the UK I think it wonderful way forward.

Cheers!

Om Shanti
Neil

We use Freecycle a lot, primarily to get rid of stuff but have had a couple of items also. If it avoids going into a hole in the ground then great.

Only once have we felt that the person collecting had other plans for the item but usually try to read into the messages we receive.
