* Scientific Bit *

Plastic bag consumption from the 9 major supermarkets equates to an estimated annual total of 17 and a half billion bags. That's enough plastic to cover the whole of England in just 21 years. An average family accumulates 60 plastic bags in only 4 trips to the supermarket. So where do these bags go? Nearly all disposed bags endup in landfill sites, only one in every 200 is recycled, the rest take up to 1000 years to degrade. I don't need to tell you how bad this is all is for the environment, let alone the amount of wild animals who suffer from discarded plastic bags lying around.

* There is an Alternative!!! *

'Onya Bags'

Funky, bright carriers made of super-strong parachute material, and this clever invention also holds around 12kg or 14.7 litres (4 times the amount of the standard carrier bag!). Handy for shopping trips or even spur-of-the-moment outings, this fab little bag folds away into its own keyring-sized pouch that can be clipped onto a handbag, belt or flung into the car ready... just in case!

Also available are the new Onya Side (messenger-style bag) and Onya Back (back-pack). All of which fold away into their own tiny pouches. Perfect for kids gym kits, for work, for picnics, shopping... anything really!

Available from Nat & Clare at:

'Oshun's Emporium'
29B Market Place, Mildenhall, Suffolk IP28 7EF

Can I also recommend jute bags, I also have an Onya bag.

I work for the battery Hen Welfare Trust www.bhwt.org.uk and we have just had our fantastic bags made by carbon neutral company Jutexpo. They are wonderful quality and you can buy these on our website as listed above.

Thanks and no plastic bags are not cool!
