Quoted from the Steve Pavlina website:

"The Secret is a new movie I saw last night with some friends. To my knowledge it’s not playing in theatres at this time — you can either buy the DVD for $30 or watch it in streaming video format for $5 per viewing. I watched the DVD version. I think this movie has the potential to spread rapidly via word of mouth, and I expect it will become the next underground hit, at least among people with a passion for personal development.

The Secret has a similar documentary-style format to What the Bleep Do We Know? but without the cheesy storyline and cartoons. I liked What the Bleep, but I thought The Secret was much better. The Secret is about the intention-manifestation model and how to use the law of attraction to create whatever you want. As the movie aptly points out, most people focus their thoughts either on what they don’t want or on reinforcing what they’re already getting. But the way to succeed with intention-manifestation is to keep your thoughts focused on what you desire, even if it seems to have no presence in your life yet. Intention-manifestation is the basis for the Million Dollar Experiment, which has been going for almost 7 months now and has collectively manifested over $1.2 million — not a bad result for simply focusing our thoughts on what we want to attract. Several participants experienced lottery wins. My personal total is over $27,000.

My wife and I both enjoyed The Secret very much. I can’t say I learned anything new from it because I’ve already been so immersed in this way of thinking, but if you’d like to learn more about the law of attraction and how to manifest what you want, I highly recommend this movie. It’s easily worth $5 for a 90-minute viewing. I love that The Secret will help bring these ideas to a much wider audience, which will encourage even more people to consciously choose the thoughts they hold each day. Just imagine a world where everyone is focused on manifesting what they want… instead of whining that they’ve attracted what they don’t want (because they keep thinking about it).

The Secret is apparently based on the book Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks, which I just read last week. In fact, it’s one of the most amazing books I’ve ever read, and it’s deservedly among the top 100 books on Amazon right now. Ask and It Is Given is a channeled book, similar to Barbara Marciniak’s Bringers of the Dawn in some ways, but Ask and It Is Given is much more down-to-earth and practical. In order to write it, Esther channeled a group of non-physical beings collectively referred to as Abraham. I saw Esther/Abraham speak in person earlier this month at the I Can Do It! seminar, and I was completely dazzled. I think Abraham is spot on, and I’ve been doing a lot to apply these ideas more fully in my own life. I’ve already reported some positive preliminary results.

In addition to Esther Hicks, other speakers in the movie included Jack Canfield, Joe Vitale, Fred Alan Wolf (also in What the Bleep), John Demartini, and Denis Waitley. Jack Canfield’s stories were my favorites because he comes across as so genuine, and his results are truly incredible.

As we watched the movie, we kept pausing it along the way to discuss how we’d already been applying these principles in our own lives, often without even being aware of it. We noted that all of us had reached a very happy and successful place in our lives, while also feeling compassion for others we knew who were unintentionally using the law of attraction to manifest exactly what they didn’t want, including depression, financial scarcity, or relationship troubles.

Perhaps the most crucial point of the film is that your emotions serve as your internal compass to let you know how well you’re applying the law of attraction. This is straight out of Ask and It Is Given. If you feel happy, joyful, passionate, or otherwise positive, you’re successfully thinking about what you want. If you feel fearful, depressed, angry, or otherwise negative, you’re thinking mainly about what you don’t want, so you’re using the law of attraction destructively. Hence, at any given time, you can simply check your emotional state to determine whether or not you’re in or out of alignment. I know I’ve been very much in alignment lately because I’ve been feeling absolutely wonderful; consequently, I’ve been on a fantastic roll where I’m attracting more and more of what I want into my life. It’s almost too easy.

Whenever I catch myself sliding down the emotional scale, I know it means I’m starting to think about what I don’t want, so I stop whatever I’m doing and refocus my attention back on what I want. Deep breathing, meditation, visualization, listening to new age music, reading my goals, or spending time with my wife – all of these are helpful in raising my emotional state back up again. And it’s in this positive state that I most easily attract what I want, partly through pleasurable direct action but also through effortless synchronicity.

Watch this movie — it will help you understand just how important it is to keep your thoughts focused on what you want to attract. At the very least, go the The Secret web site, and check out the free trailer. I recommend buying the DVD and watching it with a group of your most positive friends. (If you don’t have any positive friends, then you may want to manifest some first.) After you watch the movie, take note of how people you know invariably attract circumstances that align with their dominant thoughts, including yourself. Take charge of your thoughts, and you’ll take charge of your circumstances".

It does sound good, infact I have hinted to my boyfriend that this could be a potential christmas present! Hmm... as Asif said to me earlier though and I quote:

"Hinting to a bloke is fine as long as you keep hinting and then spelling it out and flashing neon lights. He might remember then!"

Is this a fair comment do you think?

Without trying to be sexist - why is it that men tend to not want to spend money as much as women? Are the money chemicals in our brains different or some thing?!

THATS TOTALLY SEXIST! you are trying to make out that we are different genders with different hormonal balances, and different "wiring" in the brain.

You are totally right.

Spending money makes men feel bad, spending money makes woman feel great.
(please forgive the slight generalisation here)

It is true, a classic example was last night when my BF and I were looking at a clothing site last night trying to get ideas for christmas presents, I would say - "ohh that looks nice" and he would reply "Hmm its ok", I would then ask "why don't you like it?" and he would reply "look at the price of it!" - now that is typical. He does actually like the item, but he doesn't like the price. If you like it and can afford it - buy it!! Thats what I say!

A copy of The Secret is on its way to me, however I am also interested in the focus, sounds more like the focus is more on money than anything else, is that correct.
The male and female brain ARE different (this is a generalisation, the same as if you took 100 men and 100 women in a room, you would notice men are bigger than women, not all obviously, but in general). The male brain evolved to hunt, fight, travel long distance, throw accuratley etc. The womans brain was designed to nuture, be aware, local navigation, multi task etc. These are some of the major differences, which can be noticed in everyday life. Thank god for the difference.

Girls can't throw, and it look funny when they do.

No reason for this post apart from stimulating debate. (and making funny comments)

I have just watched " the secret" it cost me 2 and bit pound off my paypal account, but what a ride! It's not all about money, its about life in general. Watchit before you you assess it. I would heartily recommend it to any one. I am buying a few copies to give to people I just know would be receptive to its "truth".

Enjoy it!

"The Secret"

bought the DVD and have passed it round some friends. The first time I applied the principles to a realtionship, it worked wonders over the weekend. I also applied it to the lottery, and for only the 2nd time I won. Mind you, £10 was not thesum I had in mind, but its a start.

Hi all

Great to hear people are getting results from focusing on what they want and being positive. This definitely helps to improve people's lives.

For any of you that might have found that approach to be inconsisent in its results, perhaps consider that the law of attraction works at deeper levels then our minds and emotions? They're only the levels that we are consciously aware of...

What if it also worked at physical, physiological, energetic and spiritual levels? This has been my experience as I had got certain results from thinking and being positive but then got stuck and couldn't seem to move any further...

I was lucky enough to come across something that clears away negativity at those deeper levels that other techniques and processes didn't get to.

Have a look at this video - it doesn't tell the whole story as I've yet to edit the other 14 minutes of footage, however is a start:
Discover The Lotus Seed Process(tm) - Part 1

You see a lot of people find it hard - despite the advice from Ask and it is Given, etc - to feel positive all the time because these deeper blocks are cropping up in different guises. Even if somebody 'turns the negative around into positive', maybe it stills leaves a residue of the negative at those deeper levels that causes people to attract what they don't want in their life?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts! :)

Hi everyone,

I noticed your discussion here around The Secret movie - http://thesecret.tv

I too love this movie and watch it often with my husband. I also own or belong to several discussion groups based on inspiration from The Secet.

It was announced recently that The Secret movie is going to be the December movie of the month in the Spiritual Cinema Circle Movie Club.

I have been a member for about two years now and the movies are very inspiring - and you can keep them or pass them along to friends and family members. When you join you get the first month free, so that means you can get The Secret Movie free in the month of December.

You may also watch two fantastic two minute Secret Movie visualizations. Watch them online or download them to your computer desktop to watch EVERY DAY. I have loaded them on to my Video Ipod too so I can watch them anywhere. Very powerful!

These visualizations will shift your state of mind to a positive state and allow you to be in a place of creating your day and creating what you truly want in your life. Get them here:

The Secret to You Visualization

Enjoy and pass along to everyone you love.

Many blessings,

Linda

PS - I love you.

Hi,

I watched the movie tonight. I happen to see all of you talking about it on the forum. I want to thank all of you for steering me to it. I think we all need reminders that we are what we manifest.

Wow talk about law of attraction... My sister gave me a copy of The Secret about a month or so ago. I too knew already about law of attraction but it still did me good to watch it as a reminder, and also gave me some pointers I was not aware of on how to manifest what you desire. I have been using these pointers and doing my best to follow them daily, and low and behold today I stumble across this forum discussion. I'm glad even though the dvd is not readily available in well known stores that it is still out there making more and more people aware of it!

This dvd is a great help for finding all round wealth and happiness, not just financially but relationship and health wise too. And as we all know Love and Good Health are far more important that having lots of money!

lets get manifesting everyone!....

OK, now its my turn to be inspired to write an article about a topic from the forums.

"The Secret" and TV: How Watching TV May Help Manifest Violence, Poverty, and General Negativity

My experience suggests that the "Law of Attraction" does work. I attracted some really negative experiences with it. :) Very effectively. But there are also things which can work against manifesting positive outcomes. One of them is the TV.

When I saw the movie, I immediately thought about TV and how many negative messages people are exposed to when they watch: from the news, the gossip shows, sports, soaps, "reality shows."

On an average day in America viewers are tuned in to over 1.3 billion hours of TV programming. I shudder to think of the negativity that we generate as a nation. Ugh, I better focus more energy on my solution.
