Hi Everyone!

So we are all familiar with what is bad for us, and are constantly being reminded by the press etc.

Can anyone tell me what is actually good for me to drink, other than water that is?!

I work in an office, and try to drink only 1 cup of tea a day. I drink plenty of water, but sometimes, I need something with more flavour, which is when i get tempted by soft drinks.

Does anyone know of any tasty, healthy drinks?

Thank you!

Fresh fruit juice?

When you say " I need something with more flavour, which is when i get tempted by soft drinks", does this really mean it's the sugar content your body's craving?

I'm not sure really. It's more that i like having a flavour in my mouth.
So water doesn't really give me this, so I would drink a smoothie or soft drink for example. Or I would end up chewing gum!

Also, I know fruit juice is good, however I thought it also has a really high sugar content?

Are fruit cordials healthy?

Hi Karen, I think Helen was referring to natural fruit juice, you know, when you take an orange and squeeze it and drink the juice. Fruit juice in a bottle may actually have sugar added.

Hi Karen,

I only drink water, but have 2-3 cups of hot freshly chopped ginger, with a squirt of fresh lime, or just the ginger. If you grate the ginger it is more potent, but I guess you wouldn't be doing that at work. If I get stuck anywhere, I would take the already chopped ginger with me, and add it to hot water.

Having said all that, you probably don't like ginger or lime:D

If you have managed to stop fizzy drinks, then I would keep it like that, otherwise once you start having them again, you will start craving them. A bit like coffee.....

Ann:)

Hi Karen,

I'm no expert but it sounds like you have sugar-free products at some point in your eating regime...

The chemical used (called Aspartame) can affect many people in similar ways in that it makes you CRAVE sugar more than ever before. I suggest you google it if you want more indepth information and reearch on it.

Hello Karen

I haven't drunk tea or coffee for years. Most of the time I drink water. When I have hot drinks they're herbal teas - camomile, peppermint, fennel, nettle or dandelion. I like pure fruit juices sometimes - apple or, if I want something that's naturally sweeter, red grape. I usually water them down 50:50.

Making an infusion with fresh ginger is lovely, as has already been recommended.

Cheers!

Rosemary

Thank you everyone for your replies!!

A ginger infusion sounds like a great idea! As does natural fruit juice, 50:50 with water!

Thanks again :)
