Hi all,

Just a quick question....

Do you buy fair trade products? Do you know of any good sites to buy FT products from?

A good place to start is here:
http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/

There are also not lots of 'Fair Trade Towns' in the UK who are committed to supporting fair trade products... perhaps there is one near you?

You can find further info here:

Well it depends on the product sometimes, and I've also learnt that this can be a very grey area subject. There can be a dark unethical side to so-called fair trade.

Then there's also the issue of do you buy fair trade products or local products (if you're lucky enough to have the choice!)?

Crikey! This ethical living stuff aint half complicated sometimes!!

I did meet a lovely girl today who sells fair trade home furnishing products. Check out her site at http://www.saathay.com

I also think the fair trade story is a pretty grey area. I've seen some fair trade goods being sold at exorbitant prices, and nothing you can say will convince me that the people who make them are getting anything like that price! Intermediaries could be jumping on the bandwagon & making a killing!

I also had a bad experience with a 'christian group' selling fair trade stuff once, and was greatly put off it if that's the kind of people who promote it. :(

So no - I don't particularly look for it or buy it.
