Some of the Aussies here may well be acquainted with Ayre's Rock & all stories that go with it. I hope!

I have acquired a piece of Ayre's Rock, smoothed into a flat undulating sort of 'slab', and showing all the different colours there is in it. I imagine it was originally a 'tourist souvenir', but nevertheless a genuine piece of it.

I wondered if anyone knows if it might have healing properties and, if so, what would be its benefits? Do the Aborigines have any ideas about this? Anyone know?

(Oops! It's spelt Ayers Rock!)

...so maybe it's an 'approved' piece, if there is such a thing!

Sorry to burst your bubble Helen, but that piece is no more like aboriginal art than the Mona Lisa. Uluaru's power lies in the land, pieces of Ulurau should NOT be taken away. No wonder Andy's link says what it says. Aboriginal theology is about aboriginals and the land they live on, not about healing. Australian aborigines are one of the oldest cultures in the world, it is very, very different from most other cultures.

This is NOT true, to take away a piece of Ulurau is to take away the heart of their life. Don't worry about your piece of rock, it is NOT Uluraru.

I would not admit to an aboriginal that you have a piece of their sacred site Uluru it would not go down at all well. They are very angry about the desecration of this site and would rather people did not climb up it at all, never mind chip bits off.

I have dual Aus/British nationality and have done some work with Aboriginal healers in Aus. I am speaking from my knowledge of their perspective. Although this is limited I do know how they would feel about this. I would send it home.
