Certificate & Diploma in Oriental Body Balance (Ancient Oriental methods with modern Western researched techniques) The College of Oriental Body Balance offers courses to students with the principals of both Oriental medicine & modern complementary Western medicine, explained in Western and Eastern terms. Our Certificate & Diploma courses are aimed at therapists who are already qualified within another therapy and have anatomy and physiology knowledge and experience. Our qualifications upgrade and enhance the skills you already possess, leading to a fuller understanding of the causes & treatment of a variety of diseases and conditions. To study the Oriental Body Balance diploma course you have two options: 1. OBB10 is 10 modules over weekends usually 1 per month. 2. OBB3 is three levels – Body, Mind and Spirit. Each level is taught over an intensive 7-day period and covers 3 modules. There is then a 2 month gap where at least 2 days clinical experience must be gained within our clinics. At the end of the two months, the student will then spend a further revision day in the clinic. The following day, students will be assessed by completing a practical and theoretical examination at our clinic. Both courses cover exactly the same information. ORIENTAL BODY BALANCE connects the 5 principals of complementary medicine 1. Philosophical systems: Traditional Chinese Medicine 2. Mind body therapies: Physical NLP & muscle testing 3. Medicinal therapies: Nutritional support and food & vitamin testing 4. Manual therapies: Tuina massage – Mobilisation – Spinal adjustment Acupressure – Repatterning – Anmo Fu – Cupping 5. Bioenergetic therapies: Qi Gung – Cranial Balancing The OBB courses are modular covering both theory & practical application. Time is given between each course and its exam for consolidation of skills, knowledge and understanding (including case studies). Including continuous support from study groups & tutors. Each level covers aspects of both physical & emotional diagnosis and treatment. OBB3 Diploma: levels are split and taught as follows: LEVEL 1 = Oriental BODY balance: Muscle balance & enhancement – Joint evaluation & correction – Spinal diagnosis and treatment – Lymphatic blockage & clearing – TCM theories & massage LEVEL 2 = Oriental MIND balance: Pelvic ligament balance – Deep organ massage – Candida & its effects – Stress & its physical damage – Cupping & moxibustion – Eyes, mind & body connection. Cranial evaluation and phobic response are also examined. Your investment for each level is £750. Plus an extra £50 examination fee A £250 deposit is required to secure your place on the course, as number are restricted, along with completion of the Enrolment form and a signature on the Terms and Conditions form. Sometimes the central nervous system injuries. Stimulation to specific points can quickly clear this muscular disorganisation and switch the mind onto maximum awareness and ability. Muscle testing: Evaluation of muscle strength and ability to diagnose structural imbalance, skeletal & ligament torsions and internal organ dysfunction. Lymphatic reflex points: Located around the body, they have a direct impact on muscular stamina, weakness & recovery, immune system function and general health. Chinese Meridian flow: Lines of energy flowing around the body that have a direct influence on the flow of blood, body fluids, muscles and internal organs. Used in Acupuncture and acupressure. Module 2: Theories: 5000 years of standard Oriental medicine theories on the how and what makes the bodywork and how to diagnose its failures. Massage & Mobilisation: Traditional Oriental massage techniques that enhance muscle function, move blood & body fluid. Joint mobilisation techniques for ligament balance and correct muscle function. Acupressure: Finger, knuckle & elbow stimulation & point location on the meridians for pain relief, muscle dysfunction, illness & internal disorders. Muscle tests: Adductors Trapezius Gluteus Max Abdominals Module 3: Theories of the spine: How the spine works and its dysfunctions. Body Language: Observation and understanding spinal dysfunctions from movement. Fixations: Diagnosing spinal fixations from muscle testing. Muscle tests: Challenging walking patterns, turning and twisting. Sacrum & Occiput: How the two ends of the spine balance each other. Sacral float: An energy technique to release ligament torsions in the spine and pelvis. Module 4: Acupressure: Stimulation of meridian points for conditions affecting Stomach/Spleen, Liver/Gall Bladder, Kidney/Urinary Bladder, the pelvis and lower limbs. Anmo Fu: Oil based deep massage on the abdomen. Often muscle weakness, body and emotional disorders are caused by internal organ dysfunction. This can be caused by torsions in the abdomen affecting normal peristaltic, blood & body fluid movements. Muscle tests: Biceps Triceps Sartorius Piriformis Rhomboids Piriformis stretch: Called freeing off the dragons tail. As the Piriformis is involved in the body’s centre of gravity, it is often found to be under strain. This simple technique often frees spinal conditions and the whole pelvis in one go. Anchoring: A technique that raises the body’s natural immune system awareness to the therapist’s diagnostic discoveries, dramatically boosting treatment impacted and recovery times. Sacral fixation: Double leg mobilisation to release a fixation. Module 5: The Body’s Centre of Gravity: How the Sacrum and pelvic bowl is fundamental to every function in the body. Challenging: By using a strong muscle, specific ligaments, joints and organs can be challenged (stretched, pushed and pulled) to help with a complete diagnosis of that particular problem area. Ileocecal valve: Located between small & large intestine, it has a dramatic impact on bowel conditions; IBS, diarrhoea etc, headaches and predicable muscle weakness leading to injury and back problems. Shock absorbency: Challenging ligament balance of the joints and spine to react to impact effects causing muscular pain, strain and injuries. Muscle tests: Quadratus Lumborum, Illiacus, Neck flexors & extensors, popliteus Cupping & Moxibustion: Glass jars are use as an aid to massage. By creating a vacuum the jars can be applied to the body where they stimulate blood & body fluid movement, muscular stimulation and internal organ function. Burning a herb over particular acupuncture points and injury sites to stimulated body functions and immune systems response. Acupressure: Point locations & techniques for the upper limbs and shoulder complaints. Module 6 Stress: How the functions of stress affect the body, how its long-term effects cause disorders (bowels, muscles, sciatica etc). Eyes in distortion: How the eye position is related to physical and emotional trauma and its effect on muscular balance and performance. Swish & Samato: Simple but dramatic techniques of releasing and removing the effects of stress on the body. Emotional stress release: Acupressure points for calming and removing stress. Repatterning: A technique of resetting nervous, muscular and ligament balance of the body. Realigning sacro-iliac and dural torsion after trauma, disease and injury. Module 7 Cranial Balancing: How the cranial system impacts all functions of the body. Cranial/Sacral balancing techniques. Challenging the cranial system with muscle tests. Module 8 Tongue and Pulse diagnosis: Understanding the ancient Chinese theories of internal disturbance leading to a multitude of conditions. Treating pain & disease: Acupuncture techniques & needle locations for a variety of conditions. Safety & Security: Procedures for the use of acupuncture. Module 9 Balancing Organs: (Qi Gung) Sometimes the body cannot let go of injuries, trauma and internal problems by hands on therapy only (massage, mobilisation and even acupuncture). Here we learn to use powerful energy techniques to release muscle & ligament spasm, bone torsions and organ dysfunction. Module 10 Full revision of course contents & final exam for recognition by the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
