IFA Diploma in Holistic Aromatherapy for Qualified Therapists - IFA, The International Federation of Aromatherapists, was founded in 1985 and is a world-wide organisation for professional Aromatherapists. It acts as an independent representative body for the profession and has in place Standards and Ethics and a Code of Practice. Accredited independent training establishments who adhere to the IFA's high standards, run the courses.
EfH is a School Forum member of the AOC (Aromatherapy Organisations Council)
This course teaches students how to combine the use of essential oils, aromatherapy massage, (plus other methods of application), and the understanding of the body's subtle energy balance in order to counteract stress, ease pain, help with chronic ailments and work in harmony with the body to bring about equilibrium. On completion, the course enables all students to take the IFA Diploma examination
For students with no previous massage qualifications, for the first ten weekends of the 20 weekend course, you will be studying for the ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage (inc. Anatomy and Physiology) for which practical and theory examinations will be undertaken. Upon successful completion of these exams you will be able to practice professionally as an Holistic Massage Therapist, whilst still studying for your Aromatherapy Massage Diploma.

How to conduct a consultation and develop a treatment plan
How to develop intuition and aspects of subtle Aromatherapy
Assessment of learning includes a clinic session on 'real' clients.
Botany - the anatomy, metabolism and classification of plants.

What are the holistic aromatherapy course requirements?
440 hours home study including 10 case studies, homework, etc.
A written exam comprising of 2 x 2 hour papers
A practical exam lasting three hours
Business study thesis of 2000 words
Aromatherapy thesis of 3000 words
On successful completion of the course students may join the International Federation of Aromatherapists
