This course is suitable for qualified therapists only, with ITEC or equivalent in A&P and Massage. You will be asked to sign a form to confirm whether or not you hold A&P/Massage qualifications as required.

Migraines and regular headaches can have a huge impact on people’s lives. We’ll often be called upon to massage someone’s tight shoulder muscles if they are aching or are prone to headaches, but what if you could help them understand the causes and give them the tools to stay well?

The causes are often chemical, metabolic and structural imbalances elsewhere in the body and Oriental bodywork provides us with some very subtle methods of assessing and dealing with common recurring problems. It can be physically gentle, and so can be used on any age group and is very versatile. It uses traditional meridian massage and acupressure points to tap into our bodies’ ability to heal itself.

This hands-on one day workshop will equip therapists with holistic assessment and treatment techniques for these common and debilitating conditions.

* During the day the following will be covered:
* The basic principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)
* The holistic Oriental approach to client history taking and how to identify the source of problems with a comprehensive assessment of contraindications and treatment safety
* Causes and connections of these common disorders in TCM terms and how they affect other body systems
* Meridians and acupressure points for the area and for the disorders
* How to create a treatment, putting together the techniques learned during the day into a flowing massage sequence. These can be used within your current treatments or in their own right to provide you with an additional treatment to offer clients
* Correct body use, breathing and working posture, to help you keep doing what you do best and increase your earning potential at the same time
* How to offer the client appropriate aftercare and further treatment or referral if necessary

You will receive a comprehensive manual with step by step photos to support ongoing learning and you’ll have the opportunity to give and receive a full treatment which is important in seeing how the whole massage can fit together. Guidance will be given from the tutor as students work from notes under close supervision and there will time for questions.

A great way to incorporate Oriental energy into your treatment work.
