Sky the School of Kundalini Yoga was established in 1996 by Guru Dharam Singh and Darryl O’Keeffe and is the longest established Kundalini Yoga training course in the UK, each year empowering more students to explore their own self-awareness through the instruction of this ancient spiritual technology.
Our basic 200 hour Kundalini Yoga Instructors Course may be completed as 8 weekend (or 4 one week) units, over 1 or 2 years. This largely experiential course is designed for those wishing to teach yoga but is also suited to yoga students or teachers seeking to deepen their understanding of this remarkable and increasingly popular yoga. All students must pass an exam and be deemed competent to instruct before certification. The instructors course leads to IKYTA membership and constitutes Level 1 of the Teachers Course.
K2 is Level 2 of the Teachers Course and comprises 5 modules:
Communication - Life Cycles - Meditation - Relationships - Vitality.
Although only Level 1 Instructors may be certificated as Level 2 Practitioners, each module is offered as a separate 5 day residential course and may be attended by anyone seeking to further personal development or spiritual growth.
SKY offer a selection of Residential Retreats which are an excellent way to experience the practice of Kundalini Yoga. Get closer to nature; feel the rhythm of the earth and enjoy the company of like-minded people. Rise at 5 and greet the day with an Aquarian Sadhana of yogic exercise, meditation and chant. Enjoy an inner workout, in tranquil surroundings, eating simple vegetarian food and sharing the chores together.

Every year several students join us with little awareness of their intention to teach but wishing to deepen their understanding of their transformational experience of Kundalini Yoga and choosing to explore their own self-awareness through this ancient spiritual technology. Every year our students discover themselves in the realisation that we are all teachers in the making.
The course itself has developed over the years and is now offered in over 20 different countries. The definitive 220 hour syllabus is supported by two excellent course manuals and recognised by the Yoga Alliance. The course is largely experiential but if you think that this course will be nothing but yoga postures you will be in for a most informative surprise.
Your tutors this year are all internationally experienced teachers resident in Europe with a wealth of diverse knowledge to enrich the exciting syllabus that has been developed by KRI. Each Part is presented by two tutors, one of whom you will have met on your first weekend, which ensures continuity as well as a variety of presentation styles.
A Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association was established in the UK for the first time in 2000 and all UK students are now registered with KYTA UK from Part 2 and insured as student teachers from Part 4 of the SKY course. International students will be registered with IKYTA the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association.
We firmly believe that experience is the key to understanding so you have several opportunities to experience this course before committing yourself to registering as a student. Firstly our annual yoga retreat in May offers the opportunity to meet with past and present students and teachers and get a flavour of the SKY style. Secondly you can attend either Part 1 or 2 of the Autumn course, with no obligation to continue the course further unless you then choose to do so. Please note though, that the demand for places on each course now means that only those who register for the course in advance will be assured of a place. Several places are now reserved a year in advance and some late applicants may be disappointed.
The course venue is the Ufton Court Centre near Reading in Berkshire (30 miles from Heathrow Airport). It is a picturesque Elizabethan manor house which balances the quiet of a rural retreat with easy access by road and rail. The final part of the course encompasses a yoga retreat which is open to all students of Kundalini Yoga and which affords instruction opportunities for our graduating students.
