Why Train in Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage is one of the most effective, versatile and convenient therapies available.
It is the ultimate "mobile massage therapy". Indian Head Massage can be incorporated into your practise in a number of ways:
1) Carried out through the clothes and with your client sitting in an ordinary chair, Indian Head Massage is the ideal therapy for use at exhibitions, conferences, events and within companies on employees, where speed and convenience are important.
2) It combines particularly well with Seated Acupressure (On Site Massage) techniques, both with the client leaning into the massage chair or with them sitting upright.
3) Indian Head Massage is the perfect choice for new clients nervous about receiving massage for the first time.
4) Indian Head Massage is a good choice where the client has a preference for intensive work around the head neck and shoulders.
5) Indian Head Massage techniques can be carried out with the client lying supine on a massage table and, in this way, can be effectively combined into a Therapeutic or table massage.

Established in 1988, the Academy has trained over 1,800 therapists in On Site Massage (Seated Acupressure) all over the UK and beyond.
We believe that small class sizes are absolutely critical. There are never more than eight students for each fully qualified teacher on our Seated Acupressure and Reiki courses and never more than ten on our Indian Head Massage courses.
Every student is given the personal contact details of their tutor and is encouraged to get in touch whenever they need to. After the course ends our support doesn’t. Post graduate training opportunities, membership of the On Site Massage Association and work opportunities with the Academy’s Corporate Services arm all support you in your massage practise and the Academy’s teaching team are never more than a phone call away.
Massage, if not carried out properly, can be detrimental to the health of the practitioner.
In 2003 we conducted a major review of the techniques of On Site Massage. This resulted in a major over haul of the way some were carried out. All of the techniques we now teach have been checked to ensure they produce minimum strain to the practitioner. A high proportion of those techniques are "zero strain" by utilising the practitioner’s elbows and forearms.
As a result we are able to differentiate ourselves from other trainers still using the original methods for carrying out massage which cause thumb and wrist strain to the practitioner.
We continue to work to develop and improve all the courses we run.
Our one day course, "Selling On Site Massage to the Corporate Sector", provides advice on how to sell the concept and practise of massage to businesses yourself.
Our aim is to develop a relationship with our students not just during their training but after it as well.
