Aromatherapy is an increasingly popular, dynamic, modern therapy with ancient traditional roots. Well known in Dynastic Egypt and in the Classical World and revitalised in the 20th Century by pioneers such as R.M. Gattefosse, Dr. Jean Valnet and Margaret Maury the essence of flowers, barks, trees and roots are the basis for a therapy which although gentle can effectively heal the mind and body - particularly effective in treating the stresses and strains of modern living.
This course, offered by the Scottish College of Complementary Medicine, will be taught through 14 weekend workshops, home study, assignments and practice.
1st Section: History of Aromatherapy, Essential Plant Oils - Chemical Priniciples, Essential Plant oils - Contra-indications & Safety, Essential Plant Oils - Use & Blending, Aromatherapy & Disease Conditions, The Psychology of Massage, The Parameters of Oriental Medicine in Aromatherapy, Yin Yang Theory, Qi Energy, The Chinese Meridian System of The Body, Acupuncture Points in Aromatherapy, The Practitioner - Client Relationship, Case Taking, Busines & Legal Considerations, The Ethics of Aromatherapy, The Holistic Viewpoint.
2nd Section: Practical Techniques of Clinical Aromatherapy, Therapeutic Massage of The Body, Facial Massage, Swedish Massage, Inhalations, Compresses and Acupuncture & Reflexology as Guides to Health and Energy Levels.
3rd Section: requires the student to complete a minimum of 30 treatments at home, working on family/friends, written assignments and 15 case studies. Students who already hold a massage or aromatherapy qualification may substitute clients for family/friends for the practical assignments. Fifteen different people must be worked on.
This course will be delivered by the Principal of the Scottish College of Complementary Medicince, Ruth Chappell, Lic. Ac, M.B.Ac. C., M.A.M.A.
Cost: £1,550.00 inclusive. £100 deposit when booking a place. £800.00 is to be paid by the start of the first term. £650.00 to be paid on the start of the second term ie the eighth weekend. An examination fee of £50 will be due after the completion of the course.
