I never thought about my appreciation of your art as a "woman's view" although I am indeed a woman with an opinion. Your work defies gender stereotypes and makes holy all things which is why for me your art is true.
Thanks again for everything- Paula

Beautiful, personal and reflective, Courtney Davis' art intuits and responds to ancient Celtic archetypes and mythological motifs burning within the collective soul and psyche. Courtney shares every aspect of Celtic mythology and spiritual experience through unparalleled image and expertise including spiraling knotwork, luminescent mandalas; contemplative plates from the Book of Kells; Arthurian and Ulster figures - both men and women; gods and goddesses; shamans and priests; animals and humans; landscapes and single stones.

Linking worlds past and present, conscious and unconscious, Courtney's art provides a doorway into lush Celtic forests and beckoning Arthurian tales, the modern embodiment of living Celtia, teaching and reaching to the places within seeking harmony, balance, health and well-being. Inspiring conservation of the wild places needing protection, tending and recognition within and around us, Courtney's work both excites and satisfies the revival of global interest in Celtic art and ritual.

Reflecting humanity's instinctive need for green spaces, magical experiences and equality of masculine and feminine, Courtney Davis creates masterpieces of love and respect, erasing boundaries of time, space and culture. Supremely skilled and personally generous, Courtney brings the ancient Celtic world to us, keeping the hope and secret of the Grail alive - that the land and the King, humans and animals, women and men, ALL are one.

For everyone involved in the current renaissance of Celtic art, Courtney Davis is our inspirational grandfather. With his ubiquitous fine art designs reproduced on all manner of New Age kitsch, his career has served to awaken an entire generation to the glories of Celtic art. From his wee seaside cowshed, toiling monk-like at illuminating manuscripts while surrounded by his souvenir bottles of ale, his prodigious output has made him a legend in his time. Because he has licensed his work to so many products, his work has become the equivalent of traditional folksongs, familiar and with a timeless quality. In my own Celtic tattoo work I am often given his designs to work from, and have always enjoyed reworking them to adapt them for the tattoo process. We share a love for the intricacies of the Celtic form, and a common goal to bring back alive the mysterious and deeply satisfying art of the line that returns to the source.

Courtney Davis' body of work is the sine que non (absolutely indispensable
part) of Celtic art. Long before that night where we all went to bed and
woke up Irish, long before the global re-enchantment with all things Celtic,
Courtney Davis was laying out an artistic road map pointing the way back to
the heart of our Celtic roots. His deep affinity for the rich symbolism of
the Celtic Pagan and Christian artistic traditions shines out from
everything he does. His artistic work covers an impressively broad range,
from the darkest recesses of the primal Pagan mind, to the magical blending
of Pagan and Christian in the Arthurian and Grail legends, to the vast
pantheon of Celtic Christian saints. He is without a doubt the most
well-known and widely published Celtic artist in the world. It has been a
great honor to work with him and I look forward to that opportunity again in
the future.

It's always so interesting for me to see what Courtney Davis is
working on and his latest projects. In our rather small community of
professionally working Celtic artists, his work is always so
recognizable and easily distinguished from the rest. The wealth of
published material he has added to over the last few decades will
leave it's mark in the history of Celtic art!

“The art of Courtney Davis is an expression of the ancient symbols, myths and legends of the Celtic culture and he creates his images through the inspiration of the Celtic Spirit. The mastery of his art has been achieved through 20 years of dedication as a self-taught artist. His paintings are in gouache and ink, many of which may be found in over 36 books that feature his artworks. His vibrant treatment of colour, intricacy of design, and true composition interpret the ancient culture in a contemporary style that is extraordinary. To view his art is to enter into a realm of fascination”. ArtiCulture
