I never thought about my appreciation of your art as a "woman's view" although I am indeed a woman with an opinion. Your work defies gender stereotypes and makes holy all things which is why for me your art is true.

For everyone involved in the current renaissance of Celtic art, Courtney Davis is our inspirational grandfather. With his ubiquitous fine art designs reproduced on all manner of New Age kitsch, his career has served to awaken an entire generation to the glories of Celtic art. From his wee seaside cowshed, toiling monk-like at illuminating manuscripts while surrounded by his souvenir bottles of ale, his prodigious output has made him a legend in his time. Because he has licensed his work to so many products, his work has become the equivalent of traditional folksongs, familiar and with a timeless quality. In my own Celtic tattoo work I am often given his designs to work from, and have always enjoyed reworking them to adapt them for the tattoo process. We share a love for the intricacies of the Celtic form, and a common goal to bring back alive the mysterious and deeply satisfying art of the line that returns to the source.

woke up Irish, long before the global re-enchantment with all things Celtic,
Courtney Davis was laying out an artistic road map pointing the way back to
the heart of our Celtic roots. His deep affinity for the rich symbolism of
the Celtic Pagan and Christian artistic traditions shines out from
everything he does. His artistic work covers an impressively broad range,
from the darkest recesses of the primal Pagan mind, to the magical blending
of Pagan and Christian in the Arthurian and Grail legends, to the vast
