Tai Chi Nation

Greetings!

A new season at Tai Chi Nation::

  • Bristol course
  • Easter Tai Chi retreat
  • London workshop and classes
  • New books
  • Become a Tai Chi teacher
  • New article
  • Well-being at work

We're running a neat little course in Bristol starting 27th March.  It's with Andrew, one of our most experienced Tai Chi people and will run on Saturdays for 6 half days.  Everyone is welcome!  Click here for more info and booking.

Easter Tai Chi Weekend: A beautifully crafted weekend of Tai Chi, Taoist Philosophy and more, with Matthew and Chris. Tai Chi and The Tao of Pooh runs from the 2nd to 4th April (with organic chocolate easter eggs!). Click here for more info and booking, we have about 8 places left.

New books in the shop including Professor Li's overview of his Tai Chi system plus several excellent new Qi Gong titles. Click here for the books page in the shop.

London classes continue in London but only in Hackney on Wednesdays 10.30-12pm with new teacher Helen Haywood.  There will also be a workshop on 25th April with Matthew. Click here for the info.

Fancy training to be a Tai Chi and Qigong teacher?  Sue Riddett just qualified and described the course in the following way:

"Thank you so much for the last two years it has been amazing. I enjoyed the course so much, and yes your are right, I have been on an amazing journey"

If you love Tai Chi and want to share it, this course is for you. All you need is some prior experience (we recommend at least 18 months) It starts on the 15th of May in Devon or 19th September in London, click here for all the details.

Tai Chi - Milestones in the Mist - a new article by experienced teacher Joe Harte. "Taiji (Tai Chi) has a beauty and depth that links us back through time to ancient wisdoms, on its myriad of inter-woven paths each traveller is challenged to rediscover that truth for themselves".
Click here to read the whole article.

Well-being at work is something of a buzz word at the moment, and we are currently working with several organisations, helping their staff to benefit from reduced stress, more energy and finding ways to develop focus, cooperation and communication skills - all through our well- being programmes.  If you or your employer would like to find out more then give me (Matthew) a ring on 0845 257 2142 to arrange a free initial consultation.

With warm wishes,

Matthew

Qi - what is it?

Friday, June 27th, 2008 9:29 AM

Qi means life-force and is a word used in Chinese healing methods to describe the underlying energy which gives life to everything.  Similar to "Prana" in Yoga, Qi is essential for health and for all things to have movement and form.  A non-physical, subtle energy that gives rise to all physical matter, Qi is sometimes referred to as the essential force in the universe that gives rise to everything in the universe.

When Qi is not flowing, when Qi is stuck or stagnant, things begin to spiral downwards.  A pure, flowing river supports life but when the water is blocked, things begin to stagnate and rot.  In a similar way, when Qi becomes blocked and stagant in the human body illness and pain result.  To enable the re-establishment of proper Qi-flow the ancient Chinese devised sophisticated yet simple methods to achieve this.  One of these methods is called Qigong whilst herbal medicine, acupuncture and Tai Chi also bring similar results.

Try these simple movements, breathing naturally and see what effect they have on you:
