Amethyst –

Amethyst is the stone of spirituality and contentment, I have always thought of it as THE healing stone for all. Increases spiritual awareness, psychic abilities and inner peace. It is valued for it's abilities to transform negative energy into positive energy. A strong but gentle teacher of all things spiritual, mystical and psychic, the stone of meditation. An amethyst bed can be used to recharge stones and crystal. It is the presence of manganese in clear quartz which produces amethyst and the level of iron intensifies the purple colour. This is one of the stones used on the breastplate of the high priest. Protects against psychic attacks, transforming the energy into a positive, loving energy.

Physical
Amethyst is perhaps the most well known of all crystals and has strong healing and cleansing power making it an extremely important, almost all purpose, crystal. Amethyst is very helpful to us if we are having trouble in sleeping. It is extremely useful with migraines and headaches and can help with hearing disorders too. Amethyst strengthens the skeletal system and reinforces proper posture. It stimulates and regulates the endocrine glands and helps with disorders of the nervous system, digestive tract, heart, stomach, skin and teeth. Amethyst is also useful in treating the lungs and the respiratory tract. Said to help business affairs to prosper. A stone that is excellent for those attempting to find freedom from addictive personalities either your own or anothers.

Mental/Emotional
Amethyst brings to us a sense of peace and contentment. It is a crystal with a calming effect. It reduces anger, rage, fear and impatience. It can promote inspired dreams and dispels nightmares. Amethyst helps to enhance our memory and stops us being anxious about things. Amethyst is useful for cleansing the aura and for absorbing any negativity. It is a very comforting crystal to have by us during periods of sadness, stress or bereavement.

Wonderful for helping to establish a person’s deep seated problems to enable them to be worked on when realised. Used in the rituals of the medicine wheel. Native Americans believe that jasper brings rain. The word for Jasper in some Native American cultures meant rain-bringer.

Lead can be as much as 50% of the weight of the glass. The presence of the lead increases the index of refraction - a high refractive index, means it bends the light more.
