You are what you eat!

By Jayne Walker

Unlike drugs, nutrients do not have rapid effects and there is no 'quick fix.' So to build a better body we have to wait for nature to turn over our body cells.

Blood cells last for 60 to 120 days- in three or four months your whole blood supply is totally replaced.
In 6 months nearly all of the proteins in your body die and are replaced including the DNA of your genes.
In a year all the bones and even the enamel of your teeth are renewed having been constructed entirely out of the nutrients that you eat.

To illustrate this time span, if all the vitamin C is removed from your diet, within 4 weeks your blood vitamin levels will have dropped to nothing- but you will not see any symptoms of disease at this stage.
You have to wait until enough of the healthy cells have been replaced by the unhealthy ones. So its another 12 weeks before the symptoms of scurvy start to take their toll on your body.

Now put this into reverse and you can start to appreciate how it can take time to reap the rewards of an optimum nutrition programme.
Think of it this way......if you take a neglected houseplant and start to nurture it , the leaves may perk up slightly from the improved feeding and watering, but you will have to wait for the old leaves to die off and new leaves to grow before it becomes truly healthy.

Seen from this perspective, patience really is a virtue!

Hi Jayne,
Yes, I agree totally and i really like the way you word your explanation! I do live blood analysis and am constantly telling my clients that they need to wait for approx 120 days for iron deficiencies to be turned around. Well done! i like your style!
