Reiki Healing and Religious Belief
By Angela Rawlins
I have recently experienced some ignorance of Reiki Healing and would like to re-address the balance.
Reiki Healing is a healing tecnique thousands of years old. It is thought to have originated as a Tibetan Buddhist practice that was rediscovered in the late 1800's by Dr Mikao Usui, a japanese Buddhist.
REI Means spiritual wisdom and KI - The life force. Reiki is passed on from Master (tutor) to student via special teachings.
Many of the people who come to learn Reiki come from many different denominations. They come to enhance their beliefs in their faiths and to enable them to help their fellow men/women and pets.
I have a good friend and tutor who has taught a group of Italian and Spanish people, who before taking the class teachings consulted the Vatican. The late Pope was perfectly happy to allow them to take the classes.
I have, my self treated many people with Reiki Healing without any interference in their faith, one client I have is a Baptist Minister.
Reiki does not teach religious beliefs, only to be compassionate, considerate, helpful human beings. To help and treat others with respect, and also help them gain relief of their many emotional, physical ailments. It re-inforces values that today have been erroded.
