USUI REIKI RYOHO – LET REIKI BE YOUR TEACHER
There are no limits to what can be achieved with Usui Reiki Ryoho yet it is a very simple system to learn once you have been attuned to the energy by a genuine Reiki Master/Teacher. A two-day training workshop will cover the basics and while every Reiki Master has their own unique style of teaching Reiki the real learning begins after the workshop and it is Reiki that is the teacher. Therefore students who get into the habit of practising Gassho meditation and self-healing on a daily basis will enhance their health and wellbeing on all levels with their heightened awareness.
The Usui Reiki system has just four sacred symbols and you are attuned to three and taught how to use them during a second degree workshop. These symbols not only amplify the Reiki energy but allow you to send distance healing through time and space as well as carry out mental/emotional healing. Reiki 3 practitioners are attuned to the fourth symbol and this is also the attunment given to Reiki Masters to enable them to attune their students to the Reiki energy. Neverthless, to restrict the symbols to these core functions is to barely scratch the surface of what the Usui Reiki system has to offer. Mrs Takata, the lady responsible for promoting Western Reiki, actively encouraged students to work creatively with the symbols and it is by being innovative and opening ourselves to new possibilities that we discover new horizons and come to realise that the Usui Reiki Ryoho has no boundaries.
Today Reiki is a generic term for various healing systems and there are dozens of different types of Reiki around making it confusing for the prospective student. Many of these are effective in their own right yet are not the original Usui Reiki. Japanese Reiki places great emphasis on Hatsu Lei Ho, the start up technique which Dr Usui’s students practised at the beginning of each day. The Hatsu Lei Ho incorporates Ghasso meditation, the five Reiki principles and Joshin Kokyuu-Ho, the breathing technique which amplifies the energy. In addition Dr Usui’s students chanted the poems of the Meiji Emperor and worked intuitively using Reiji Ho. They were also taught how to send healing with the eyes and the breath as well as tapping and stroking to remove energy blockages. More advanced techniques were introduced as the student progressed. Therefore, rather than diluting the essence of Reiki by adding and changing symbols we need to be aware that the Usui Reiki Ryoho is a complete system without the need for embellishment and training with a Master who adheres closely to methods employed by Dr Usui will equip you with the skills required to allow you to enhance this gift from the universe in the only way possible and that is by going within and allowing Reiki to be your teacher.
