Meditation: Journey of Liberation
By Harlin Magee
Meditation Journey
If the Spirit is calling, calling you to fellowship with God, to the path of meditation and prayer, then I trust that the following will benefit your spiritual journey. Acts (17:24) identifies the God we seek, “The God who made the world and everything in it, who is LORD of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by human hands, (17:25) nor is He served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives life and breath and everything to everyone. (17:26) From one human He made every nation of the human race to inhabit the entire earth, determining their set times and the exact places where they would live, (17:27) so that they would search for God and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. (17:28) For in Him we live and move and have our being {we exist}”. My teacher has said that people only come to the path when the LORD calls them. It’s all in God’s time. The master teacher and good shepherd Christ Jesus said as much: “No one can come to me {the way} unless the Father who sent me draws him,” (John 6:44) Also, all who come to the path must do their own work, that which God requires of them.
Is faith in God’s mercy and grace the pathway to Him or do works build a bridge to God? Biblical scriptures address this question and are reliable references as cited here because they are taken as complete thoughts within their intended context and clarified by other passages; not as some people do when they quote partial points and combine unrelated topics, thereby drawing erroneous conclusions. Galatians (2:16) states, “And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified {liberated, forgiven and returned to right relationship with God} by the faithfulness of Christ {God anointed consciousness crystallized into form in the world} and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.” Galatians (5:6) clarifies “For in Christ Jesus… – the only thing that matters is faith working through love.” James (2:24) adds, “You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.” and James (2:26) “faith without works is dead.” Philippians (2:12) encourages everyone to “continue working out your salvation with awe and reverence”.
Therefore, nobody is liberated {saved} exclusively by her or his works and nobody is liberated exclusively by their faith either. Also, the work that we are called to is God’s choice and each of us must work out our own liberation according to His will. The LORD’s prayer in Matthew (6:10) proclaims, “Your {God’s} kingdom come, Your {God’s} will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In Matthew (26:42) Jesus said “My Father {God}, your will must be done.” In one respect there are as many paths to God as there are people because each of us must personally do our own work according to the divine plan specifically laid out for us in order to rejoin the LORD, face to face in an intimate personal relationship, in oneness. No one comes to the path and does the work if they have no faith that the work at least has the possibility of achieving the desired outcome. Even blind faith is faith!
Now I believe {by faith} I will see and I see accordingly. It is through holding our intention on God and believing that there is something to see, that we empower our consciousnesses to perceive what is truly there. As the scripture reveals, it is only in spirit that we see that which truly is: “For now {in this world} we see but a poor reflection in a dark mirror indirectly and obscurely, but then {in spirit} we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known.” (1st Corinthians 13:12)
As for my path, I have practiced various forms of meditation and visualization for years, with the aim of seeing and experiencing the extra-physical dimensions and the LORD directly. This is the process I’ve refined through the practice of meditation to free my energy and break my consciousness loose from the constraints of the worldly realm. During my meditation, I normally sit in a comfortable reclining chair and close my eyes like I’ve done many many times, often experiencing the following. After closing my eyes, I am immediately aware of being enveloped in a hollow, multi-hued cylinder of light that exists beyond space-time. Angelic presences float in its wall as it swirls around me. Soon I often perceive a sphere of brilliant white light above me that rains down innumerable tiny sparkles of white light into the top of my head at my crown, cascading down and around my head and face. The light continues to fill and surround me, sinking past my head and neck, across my shoulders and down my arms, forearms, hands and fingers. Quickly my chest, abdomen, back and hips are filled and surrounded by the pure white light that washes away any and all darkness. This flow of radiant light continues down inside and around my thighs, legs, feet and toes and out the soles of my feet. This river of white light flowing through my body, energizing my soul and purifying my being of all negativity, attachments, distractions and disturbances continues to pour down into the earth, all the way to its red molten core. Once again I am awakened at that point of contact between the higher realms and earth, between spirit and matter. As I continue to be washed with the living waters of pure white Christ light, my entire body is filled with a flash of red light that rapidly condenses to the base of my spine at the first chakra {a nexus of metaphysical & biophysical energy residing in my terrestrial body}. This is followed by flashes of orange, yellow, green and blue light, which each flare throughout my whole body and then coalesce at each of their respective chakras; umbilicus, solar plexus, heart & throat. Drawing the energy of the lower chakras up, I center my consciousness at the tenth door brow chakra as it opens and a beam of indigo {deep violet-blue color} light floods through the open door into my whole being. Simultaneously my crown chakra is infused with violet light that also fills me. Both of these waves of light energy recede to the center of my head into the third ventricle of my brain, which is the seat of my soul, vibrating and resonating in that inner chamber with the celestial tones.
With one’s awareness focused on the tenth door brow chakra and one’s consciousness at the seat of the soul, the process of calling on the LORD by chanting his name will prepare the way for being lifted up to the higher realms. The chanting that accomplishes this is an awakened, steady calling and patient waiting on the LORD; not entranced vain repetition like mantra meditation generally tends to be. The scripture states that at the moment of Jesus’ liberation from his fleshly body, “the temple veil was torn in two, from top to bottom” (Mark 15:38), which signifies that the separation between the higher and lower realms was opened more than ever before. That veil is the curtain separating the Holy of Holies (Spirit) from the outer temple (our bodies), the separation at the tenth door third eye chakra that must be opened, so movement beyond the worldly realm will be possible. The Narrow Gate & Straight Path of Liberation and Ascension is now readily available and the inner journey begins there.
This gate can suddenly open inwardly, like a lightening flash, raising you up out of your body through the tenth door and up above your physical body, where you are likely to see above you a vast night sky covered with millions of points of white star like lights. Survey that sky and fix your vision on the brightest point of light. Allow your spirit body to swiftly move toward that light, until that radiantly brilliant light fills your vision. Once in the light, it will become clear that it is not a destination but a portal or wormhole {a passage in or outside space-time, connecting widely separated parts of the universe &/or realms of this creation}. I believe this is the ladder to heaven in Jacob’s dream, Genesis (28:12) and the straight way to life that Jesus spoke of in Matthew (7:13).
Call out God’s name in prayer and wait to be joined by the image of your spiritual teacher, which is the good shepherd, the indwelling Holy Spirit. There are many spirits on all the realms of creation; so, we must all be discerners of the spirit. Be exclusively lead by the only true Holy Spirit that Christ Jesus spoke of. The scripture reveals (2nd Corinthians 11:14) “even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. (11:15) Therefore it is not surprising his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness”. For we know the divine light and sound {God’s word} must both be present for truth to shine forth and be heard through the darkness. In The Merchant of Venice Shakespeare wrote "The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose" as the devil did in Matthew (4:6) when he quoted psalm (91:11-12) to Christ Jesus. Therefore, test the spirits as the scripture advises, (1st John 4:1) “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to determine if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world {on all the realms}. (4:2) By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses Jesus as the Christ who has come in the flesh is from God, (4:3) but every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God”. This is further clarified in 1st Corinthians (12:3) “understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be damned or is cursed,” nor would anyone be inclined to [truly] say, “Jesus is Master &/or LORD,” except by the Holy Spirit.” The spirits not only must acknowledge Christ but also serve His plan because James (2:19) declares “You believe that God is one {Father, Son & Holy Spirit}; well and good. Even the demons believe that and (they) tremble with fear”.
We who are the called can be confident that we can and will know the true Holy Spirit because 1st Corinthians (2:16), assures us “we have the mind of Christ” and John (14:26) proclaims, “the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things”. The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans (5:5) that “the love of God has been poured out in our {the chosen’s} hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us”, which is that same Spirit now indwelling we the chosen. Also, Ephesians (1:13) assures us “when you believed in Christ, you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, (1:14) who is the down payment of our inheritance {the kingdom of God}”, Ephesians (4:30) confirms “the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed {marked} for the day of redemption {liberation}” and John (10:29) explains that Jesus said “My Father, who has given them {certain souls} to me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them {the chosen few} from my Father’s {God’s} hand.”
As you rise up with the Holy Spirit, the immenseness of all that is available to see may appear infinite and at the same instant it may seem as if your sight is magnifying the minute details of these dimensions to the subatomic level. With no physical form, size is truly relative, so space-time will lose all proportion. Whether things are microscopic or of cosmic scale or outside space-time, dimensionality will soon fade to insignificance. With the certainty that emanates from the Spirit, you can be buoyed up to move forward. The portal will appear both straight and wavy, undulating as it passes through the levels of creation. Each realm has a clearly perceivable boundary when viewed from inside the column of light as you make the passage from one realm to the next but the realms will appear to be the only universe when viewed from within them. Although, this is only our perception of limited perspective and is irrelevant, because as Jesus said in Luke (17:21) “the kingdom of God is within you.”
Travel up through this portal, which may appear similar to a clear vacuum tube like those at a bank’s drive through. When you look outside of the portal, the tube may seem to disappear by becoming dimensionless, giving you an unobstructed omnidirectional view which can make you feel as if you have left the portal and are wondering in that realm. This perception can become reality by drawing you off the path because you may move out to find the path again. Do not succumb to this illusion. When you focus inside on the Holy Spirit that is traveling with you; it will again be clear that you are still on the path and the portal’s appearance will change back into three-dimensional space. Even though there are a multitude of distractions and lures calling from the realms that will vie for your attention, continue to call on the LORD and stay focused on the Holy Spirit who will never leave you alone. Like the Siren song that often allures souls into unfortunate entanglements, the realms will call, with images and scenes coming into close view. By keeping as much of your focus on the LORD as possible and chanting His name, you will continue to rise up. The Spirit will continue lifting you up, through the astral, causal and mental realms to the deep thick darkness of the etheric level. This region is slow and more difficult to traverse as if there was a gravitational field like the earth has, that tries to prevent souls from breaking free of its confines. Maintain your focus on the LORD and continue calling on the LORD by chanting His name and the Spirit will guide you through into the clear light of the soul realm. Moving above the etheric realm may seem similar to breaking through a thick dark cloudbank into the cloudless sky above. The soul realm is not illuminated from various sources of light but is an ocean of incredibly luminous space. After the awe of this place expands to include serenity &/or your consciousness expands enough to include yourself in that place, a being of pure light like the light of ten thousand suns will materialize in your view when you allow yourself to have the vision to see. This is the One omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent being of pure agape loving that comes to welcome all emerging souls. From this being {that was, that is and that is to be, the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, the eternal I AM}, all and everything of value emanates and is freely shared.
Arriving at the soul level will awaken you to the realization that there is no distance to travel, no place to go, but only to remember who you truly are, whose you truly are. It is clear at this level that the LORD God, is and should be first in your life. All who are truly on the path need, serve and love the LORD, absolutely totally. It is written that Father God is one with His children in loving, for God is the loving and can only be one with loving. This is the agape kind of loving that is totally selfless, all forgiving, unconditional and eternal. Everyone that wishes to be the recipient of that loving must include themselves in the loving, freely giving and receiving the agape. Like the prodigal son Jesus told of in Luke (15:11-32), we can be truly, spiritually, consciously alive again in the loving. Being able to rise up to the soul level signifies that your soul is now ready to see the LORD face to face, to know His presence that is always with you and to have an intimate friendship, a close personal agape relationship with Him. For our goal is to consciously be with the LORD forever!
Attachment to the physical body and the world are not easy to release but regular practice will enhance one’s ability to focus into the inner kingdom where the narrow door to liberation lies. Focusing on the essential truth that nothing in this world can belong to anyone for long except the energy that God has given you, may shift your awareness so that you can call back and reclaim all the pure energy, God created you with; physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and material, that you have lost, had stolen, misplaced and/or misused. In meditation, allow the Holy Spirit to lift the veil of forgetfulness so that you can see the divine plan for your life energy. Surrender to the direction of the Holy Spirit for guidance about the events from which you are to retrieve your energy. Visualize your life energy flowing back to you as balls and streams of light. Envelope yourself in a hollow sphere or cylinder of white light that will filter out all negativity and attachment from your returning energy. This is an aspect of the truth that can set you free; all your life energy is available for you to use for liberation when it’s untangled from your past. We all must be willing to let go of what lies behind in order to fully take hold of what lies ahead. 2nd Corinthians (5:17) reminds us that, “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new!” Sidhartha Gautama Buddha said that attachment is the cause if all suffering. Jesus asks for complete detachment from this world in Mark (8:35) “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and for the gospel will save it.” Moreover, Jesus calls us to a greater allegiance to a higher power, not to complete detachment because Hell, the ultimate suffering, is best described as a place of being, devoid of God.
Throughout life the wise person builds and stores up treasure, which is invested for retirement, an investment that grows and produces dividends. Meditation is a similar investment in another kind of life’s transitions. As we meditate, our heavenly account is infused with an everlasting treasure that is spiritual power. We can build the power of God’s holy name and our personal relationship with the one true God of all that is. Go inside to the inner kingdom where while this worldly life remains the extracorporeal dimensions {the undiscovered country} can be surveyed to map out the Straight Path of Liberation and Ascension to the Realms of Pure Spirit. Each time you travel there, the energy that drives your perception shifts the powerful attachment and hold of this apparent reality of the physical world and all the lower realms to the truth of the pure eternal Spirit.
Shakespeare wrote about the lot in life of ordinary humans; "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts" --From As You Like It and "Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." --From Macbeth. Bob Dylan wrote about this world; “it’s just a dream, a vacuous scheme that sucks you into feeling like this” but there is another way.
Break free of the vortex of delusion; rise up through the levels of illusion, into the light, where the divine being, the One, waits for you, to show you who you truly are!
