Looking At Your Clients As A Whole
By Robin Van Ert, CMT
As a Massage Therapist, I believe it is of the utmost importance to provide our clients with the best service possible and to look at them as a whole. To me this means assisting them in taking care of their bodies not only through physical manipulation of their muscle tissue, but also through educating them about their health and wellness. If you agree with me, I encourage you to read on.
In today’s fast paced society, many Americans have poor dietary habits because they eat convenient, processed foods that are laced with chemicals. A result of this is nutritional inadequacies. Also contributing are disease, excessive consumption of alcohol, stress, and much more. Nutritional inadequacies can lead to myofascial pain syndromes causing pain and discomfort to our clients. According to Dr. Janet Travell, the author of “Myofascial Pain & Dysfunction,” nearly half of the patients with chronic myofascial pain require resolution of vitamin inadequacies for lasting relief.
Several factors that may cause vitamin insufficiency are: (1) inadequate ingestion of the vitamin, (2) impaired absorption, (3) inadequate utilization, (4) increased metabolic requirement, (5) increased excretion, or (6) increased destruction within the body. (Travell & Simons)
Isotonix is a line of supplements that are the same pH balance as the stomach. This means they do not need to be broken down by the stomach, therefore, moving into the small intestine and giving you up to 98% absorption within the first ten minutes of ingestion when mixed with filtered water correctly. They are an all-natural vegetarian product. There are no fillers, binders, coatings, lubricants, disintegrators, or artificial coloring as there are with most supplements consumers purchase.
The Isotonix line includes OPC-3, a super anti-oxidant used to fight free radical damage caused by poor eating habits, smoking, stress, air pollution, etc., which can lead to premature aging, hardening of the arteries, stiffening of joints, formation of cataracts, the initiation of cancer and much more. OPC-3 boosts the immune system, lowers LDL cholesterol levels, inhibits inflammation, improves allergies, cleanses the blood and much more.
Digestive Enzymes contain Probiotics and aid the body in digesting processed foods that can inhibit the body’s ability to efficiently digest and reap the nutritional compounds necessary for health. Probiotics can help the body properly digest food and absorb the necessary nutrients.
