Finding your purpose as a practitioner will bring you all the clients you need!
By Geraldine
What is your life purpose?
When I discovered my life purpose, my energy, health, everything in my life hit amazing new levels of fabulousness! For years I was aware that if you want to be successful you must specialise; but I never felt passionate about a particular area. Until recently that is; now I realise that every path was leading me to where I am today. When you discover your speciality, you’ll feel like you’re connected to something far greater than you or anything you’ve experienced before. It will be as if time stands still when you’re engrossed in it, you’ve got more energy, drive and passion than ever before. When I found my true passion I started getting up at 3, 4 and 5am full of energy, inspiration and ideas.
I had been meditating twice a day consistently for over a year which I know was a contributing factor to me finding my true bliss! You’ve got to leave space in the mind for the guidance to come through. Then you’ll find that the Universe, God the Angels or whoever you feel guides you conspires to deliver magic and synchronicities right to your doorstep in the form of information, contacts, opportunities, courses and of course clients!
So be thankful for where you are right this moment, and stay open to the present that is unfolding.
How can I build up my practice right now?
Unfortunately it’s not enough to be a wonderful practitioner; you need to be business minded and do your marketing. Yes, Spirit gave you a gift, but you’ve got to take Spirit by the hand to help lead you to the right people and opportunites to help you along your path to success. Some of the important things to bear in mind are:
• Contact Details, Newsletters & Testimonials
I recommend that you get everyone’s email addresses and contact details, both clients that come for a treatment plus anyone who calls to find out about you and your practice/fees.
Then send out newsletters or occasional tips /fact sheets. This is a nice, gentle way of reminding them of you. Getting testimonials is also really important so people realise how amazing you are, then use them on all your marketing materials.
• Follow your heart
If you use another therapy/practice for your personal development, consider adding that to the things you offer your clients. For instance, when I was studying Shiatsu, no matter how many people told me how good I was, I wouldn’t believe it – even total strangers! This was due to deep-rooted issues which I had been unaware of. I saw a Shamanic Healer and I was so impressed that I decided to do the training; now I am a qualifed Shamanic Healer (and Indian Head Masseur, Reiki Practitioner and Life Coach). This adds other levels to my service and it means I don’t spend all day doing Shiatsu which is wonderful but it can be tiring!
• Visualise and Set Goals
This is soooo important. When I was doing my life coaching course, I found an old piece of paper where I’d written down goals for the coming years. I’d just started studying shiatsu at the time. I jotted down that I’d like to be a full time healer and I remember a part of me thought that would be impossible, yet I’ve achieved that and more. Research has shown that when you write your goals down you have more of a chance of achieving them.
So set goals, visualise yourself having achieved them, feel how great it is, REWARD yourself when they manifest and of course be grateful!
• Headlines - Are You Stressed?
Target your leaflets and get people’s attention by asking questions. Refrain from putting a big ‘SHIATSU’ or whatever on the front cover. As much as we know how amazing our therapy is, you’ve got to have attention grabbing headlines.
So have you guessed what my purpose is? My life purpose is to I help others discover their life purpose and guide them into their ‘flow’. I believe that if you’re stressed you’re not in your flow.
As a final note, enjoy and well done on choosing the wonderful world of alternative therapies, we have a challenge to get it out into the world, but we know how fabulous our work is, so let’s spread the word and the love!
